Top Ten Healthy Plant Based Snacks

If I am going to eat healthy plant-based snacks, those snacks had better accomplish two things.  First, it has to be filling enough to make me feel satisfied until my next meal.  Second, it needs to be packed full of nutrition so I am not just wasting calories on what I like to call empty foods.  For me, empty foods are processed foods that really don’t feel you up and instead make your body crave more and more.  A perfect example would be chips.  Yes, I mean even vegan or baked chips.  How many times have you managed to eat an entire bag and thought “how the heck did that happen”.  It happened because the chips don’t contain enough fiber and nutrients to give your body the energy it is looking for.  These ten plant based snacks are my go to.  Many are portable so pop ’em in your purse and avoid those temptations lurking behind every drive through window!

1) 1 Tablespoon Raw Almond Butter & 1 Medium Apple or Pear

       170 Calories, 8 Grams Fat, 4 grams Protein, 25 Grams Carbs, 7 Grams Fiber

2) 1 Cup Mixed Raw Veggies with 2 Tablespoons Oil Free Hummus (Like Trader Joes Eggplant Humus)

3) Cocoa Banana Energizing Smoothie (Recipe Here)

     140 Calories, 6 Grams Fat, 5 grams Protein, 18 Grams Carbs, 7.5  Grams Fiber

4)  1/2 Cup Crispy Chickpeas (Recipe Here)

5)  Plain Old Banana
